Our family farm was established in 1890 in the Minnesota River Valley. Now managed by the 4th generation, we are still farming the same land as our ancestors. Traditionally, we farm grains, sweet corn, tomatoes, pumpkins, apples, squash, raise bees, and in 2019, began farming hemp. Our extensive background in growing high-quality and temperamental plants such as sweet corn and tomatoes has provided us the necessary insight into growing the best quality hemp plants.
It starts with a seed and ends with pure natural goodness.
With our hemp production, we begin the process by selecting genetics that will provide the highest therapeutic qualities. We further examine and identify the phenotype that exhibits the cannabinoids and terpenes we find most desirable for the body and the palate. We are dedicated to clean green and truly organic practices, and our sun-grown hemp is fed only organic meal and compost teas. The plants are either watered naturally by rainfall or irrigated with all-natural spring water located on our farm. Beneficial insects are used in lieu of chemicals to manage the plants. We believe in the harmony of nature and the symbiotic patterns that exist. We cultivate this plant in an all-natural bio-diverse environment and in turn reap the bounty nature provides.
Through close observation, we monitor the optimal harvest period and hand select flowers for the finest quality. Our harvest then undergoes weeks of drying and curing to fully express the aromas and benefits of the plant. Once properly dried and cured, we carefully extract what we need from the plant and craft it into various products such as oils, balms, salves, and lotions with more items being created regularly. It is incredibly rare to have a small family business growing the plant, processing the plant, and selling a CBD line direct to the customers. We oversee it all and with almost 130 years of growing on our farm, we are sure our passion and experience will be evident when you try our River Valley Hemp Company products.
